Our clients had lived in in this home for many years. It had served their children and themselves well, but it seemed time to improve the existing accommodation and update their home to reflect a modern aesthetic.
The previous street façade incorporated an expansive driveway leading to a single storey, brick and weatherboard dwelling with twin garage doors to one side. Cascading gable roofs centred over an oddly angled entry door. The entry door opened directly off the driveway, offering little protection from public exposure. This entry door in turn opened directly in to the Living area, exacerbating a lack of privacy from the street.
This project is a great example of how architectural additions to a very typical suburban home can vastly increase the quality of a home and create a comfortable environment for many years to come.
